With a CT S.... I mean CT 5.
There’s no way someone from a distance won’t read that as a CTS.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Can we STOP making liftback lookalikes that aren’t liftbacks ?
RIP, Escala. You were beautiful and those morons at Cadillac butchered you.

The Escala was too beautiful for this world.

Isn’t that an ATS replacement, since it’s a 3-series fighter? I just don’t know anymore...

Dat C-Pillar doe. I’m not about it.
I think the Accord does a much smoother job of pulling that look off. The rest of the CT5 looks fine to me. Nothing super exciting, but a clean, slightly aggressive look. I was never a fan of the old Caddy styling line so this new direction is fine for me.

T here’s a CT4 coming that replaces ATS.

This was my comment to the FP article.
“This naming thing is stupid, and switching the letter S to the nearly identical looking 5 highlights that perfectly. I first read the headline as the CT5 replaces the CT5. Which made no sense, so I reread it and saw that the CTS was replacing the CT5. Which still didn’t make sense. Upon the third reading I finally got it right.”

This is supposed to replace both ATS and CTS, and sort of overlap the 3-Series and 5-Series. Supposedly, there's a smaller car still on the way.

I’m so confused....

Contrary to most of what I have read I love the looks on this. Discrete aggression with a hint of elegance, not overly chintzy.

The Accord at least has a rear window that aids in blind spot visibility. This is just black plastic trim.

That C-pillar, Woof. Accord and Regal had some fun.

Just like the XT4 -5-6 they’re making a CT 4-5-6.
They’re doing what Acura did with replacing the TSX and TL with an in-betweener TLX.

Basically going back to what they were doing originally with the original CTS. Slotting in between the Germans.

I think it’s just the roof line being a bit too high. It screws with the proportions, that and the headlights and it still looks close to the Escala concept... but probably would look better as a wagon instead of the lift back shape it has now. It’s very reminiscent of the BMW whatever that is an uggo liftback, not enough sexy liftback like the A7.

Im going to keep calling it CTS. Prove me wrong th at badge says something else.
I hope this is a 5 series fighter (though probably 3) because that will be the first thing people will ask.
“ct5? So it's like a 5 series?"

Still think it’s a handsome car.

The Escala is a fullsize range topper. There’s still time to see something like it.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 10:44 |

They should’ve just made it an actual liftback and compete with the 4 Gran Coupe instead.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 10:47 |

It was more of a styling preview than an actual product. Concept wise, range topper would’ve been the Elmiraj and that got translated into the CT6 and XTS refresh.

Yup. Exactly what I said in my FP comment.

Wasn’t the Escala meant to be a flagship design? But unless your German or Japanese, no one wants your premium sedan. Premium SUV however is a different story.

Most of Cadillac’s concepts just simply don’t make it to production aside from a few styling tweaks.
The only 3 I remember that made it to production: Evoq/XLR , Provoq/FWD SRX, Converj/ELR.

It’s a tweener, just like the TLX.

If CTS = CT5, shouldn’t ATS = 4TS? Or 4T5?
![]() 03/18/2019 at 12:05 |

Not sure... ask Audi or Infiniti. System came from there.

I like it. Like, really like it.
The one thing that keeps throwing me though, is the headlights. I keep looking and thinking it’s a Gen1 Cruze with the way they tail off into the fender.
Not that that’s a bad thing.
I liked the styling on the Gen1 Cruze...
a lot more than I like the current styling. But even though it looks good, it’s not great that I have to tell myself “
Caddy, not econobox Chevy” every time I look at the nose.

Looks alright, can’ t wait to see it top sales charts like everything else from Cadillac.

I thought that I read days ago that Cadillac will name its cars like CT400 — C for Cadillac, T for turbocharged, and 400 for Newton-meters of torque.
So ... CT 5 has five Newton-meters of torque?

Cadillac is again abandoning going head-to-head with BMW, so the CT5 is supposed to be sized more or less in between - bigger than a 3-Series, but smaller than a 5-Series, and priced closer to the 3.
The upcoming CT4 will presumably be smaller than a 3-Series /bigger than a 2-Series, and priced closer to the 2.

They said the same thing about the Sixteen.
